Head of Platform

In brief:

This role will be responsible for all aspects of the development of Rainbird’s award winning reasoning engine.  The Head of Platform will be responsible for the day to day management of the development team as well as working with the wider business to deliver on our vision for the Rainbird Platform.

Reporting directly to the executive you will ensure that the development team continue to deliver enterprise grade software that exceeds our clients and partners expectations in every way.

About the role

Our development team are responsible for the design, innovation, development, and delivery of the Rainbird Platform.  The team are a world class team of software engineers and testers who work on a backlog of work defined by internal innovation, research and development, and market need. The Head of Platform will be responsible for this team, working closely with the Scrum Master and every member of the team on a daily basis.

The Rainbird Platform is delivered primarily through partners. The Head of Platform will work alongside the Head of Delivery to help interface development with the wider business, ensuring the platform delivers on client and partner need as well as the broader strategic objectives of the business.

The Head of Platform will become the product owner for the Rainbird platform, with responsibility for all change. You will work with the scrum master and the business to accurately prioritise and manage the product backlog to ensure it reflects the objectives of the business, our clients, and our partners.

This role is based full time in our Norwich office, but we do expect some travel, both national and international, to be necessary from time to time to meet with clients and partners.

Experience, qualifications and certificates

  • A degree-level qualification is an advantage, but not essential
  • An IT or development background is a must
  • Experience working as a Senior Project Manager and/or managing a team, preferably for enterprise clients or governments
  • Experience working with both sales and technical staff
  • Strong documentation and written skills, and experience working on customer proposals
