In brief:

We are looking for a high-performing Sales Director in the technology and intelligent business solutions sector.

Based within the Rainbird business, this role is expected to support the sales teams across Heron and Rainbird and act as the representative of the sales organisations as a single entity.

The successful candidate will set and meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives both personally and for the sales team they will lead.

Sales director responsibilities include leading, managing, coaching and developing the sales team, and developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans.

Heron, based only in London, is a technology agnostic consulting business focused purely on AI projects. Heron is a collection of ex-consultants and technical specialists.

Whilst acting as the main delivery function for Rainbird in the UK, Heron also has the capabilities and partnerships to offer a broader solution to clients or deliver the tertiary elements clients may wish to consider alongside the Rainbird platform itself.

Heron acts as the client owner of Rainbird delivery post sale and is heavily integrated in both sales and delivery with Rainbird.

The Role:

This role will be based within the Rainbird business and is expected to support the sales teams across Heron and Rainbird and act as a representative of the sales organisation as a single entity and ensure complimentary goals in both businesses.

The successful candidate will set and meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives both personally and for the sales team they will lead.

Sales director responsibilities include leading, managing, coaching and developing the sales team, and developing key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans. Successful execution of these strategies is required to achieve your financial targets. Sales director duties will include hitting quarterly targets, building relationships and understanding customer trends in the AI technology market. As the team grows, the personal quota will reduce as more time is spent managing the team.

The role will be London based with the potential for flexible working.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and hit/exceed quarterly & annual sales targets in the software licensing and business consultancy aspects of the business.
  • Supervise and set sales goals, hire and onboard salespeople, and act as a coach and mentor to the team.
  • Responsible for the performance of the sales team, setting set clear expectations for the team’s activities, insuring that the targets set are met on a quarterly basis.
  • Generate leads personally and for the sales team through existing and new network opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base, and make sales forecasts to the Board.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships through existing network, event attendance and direct prospecting methods.
  • Coach, mentor, develop, recruit and manage performance of the members of the sales team, with effective systems and procedures or by direct engagement with them on sales visits and engagements.
  • Utilise and develop the CRM effectively for reporting, transparency and accountability
  • Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives.
  • Lead the Sales team by example and be able to deliver KPIs.
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations.
  • Understand category-specific landscapes and trends in AI and Rainbird’s position amongst them.
  • Be instrumental in identifying and developing new business approaches and innovative ideas around the way in which the licence and services are sold in order to expand and reach new markets.
  • Report to the Chief Commercial Officer.

Experience, qualifications and certificates

  • Demonstrable experience as head of sales, with track record of developing staff and holding them accountable to their commitments.
  • Proven sales track record, meeting or exceeding targets selling technology solutions into large scale enterprise clients.
  • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organisation in different functions including the ability to engage executive and C-level personnel and to tailor the pitch accordingly.
  • Degree or equivalent.
  • Professional body membership or higher degree desirable.

We are looking for

  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services.
  • Proven ability to position products against competitors in the technology sector.
  • Consulting sales experience desirable but an ability to form conversations consultatively is a must.
  • Experience of reporting, forecasting and developing CRM use.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
