We’re not here to tell you what you can and can’t do. But there are some important things we must say, to help guide your participation in the Community.   Overall, please make use of Rainbird Community using the same good intentions you would when using any professional social media channel.

Strive to improve, not disrupt, discourse

Just as discussion in the Community platform is there to help you, any discussion you contribute to Community should aspire to help others.   Every topic is important. Specific topics may be more important or relevant to some than others. This is normal. Aim to contribute where you can. But don’t detract from discussions that you have no interest in.   If you are wondering how to contribute, take time to explore Community. This will help you ensure you understand the spirit of learning and development that underpins it.

Be polite and respectful when engaging in any discussion

Disagreement in discussion is a healthy way to learn about points of view you may not have had an opportunity to encounter before.   But keep in mind that, if you disagree with a point someone makes, the best way to derive value from that discussion is to keep it to the material you are discussing. Don’t make the discussion about the participant with an opposing viewpoint.   Think carefully about the point with which you disagree and how can you put across your point of view in a measured, meaningful way, based on any necessary evidence.   Under no circumstances should you resort to personal insults or seek to undermine or belittle anyone on the platform.

Create a positive Community experience for everyone

This Community is growing. Any contribution you make will influence that growth. Please keep that in mind with all engagement that you have in the Community. Use the Community’s functions as they are designed, and help to improve other users’ experiences, too.

Be professional and respectful

Adhere to the following guide of conduct at all times.

  1. Do not post anything or use the Community in any way that could be considered:
  • Offensive
  • Abusive
  • A hate crime
  1. Do not post any sexually explicit or obscene material.
  2. Do not harass or bully any other participants in the Community.
  3. Respect other participants’ rights to privacy.
  4. Don’t spam the Community.

In doing so, please accept that this list—indeed, these Community Participation Guidelines—are not an exhaustive list of all possible behaviours we deem unacceptable. They are a guide. Anything you post could be viewed by anyone at any time—from your colleagues to journalists.

If you encounter a problem, help us help you

Community moderators are there to help you if there’s a problem. For instance, if you see something that does not look right, such as offensive behaviour, you can raise it to the attention of our moderators. Don’t be a bystander.   Moderators have the right to remove content at any time. They do not need to give a reason for doing so.

User experience and accessibility

Help us keep Community discoverable in search engines, so that more can benefit from what it has to offer. To do this, we ask that you keep your posts clear and concise.

Keep what you post correctly categorised

Community is organised into Groups and Topics. This helps participants find what they are looking for.

  • Only add relevant points or information to relevant discussions.
  • Don’t post content in a Group if there is a more relevant Group to which your post belongs.
  • Don’t change the topic if it is not relevant
  • Don’t repeat information that can easily be attained, such as writing your name or title at the end of a post.
  • When viewing the posts of others, use reaction functions rather than commenting, unless you have something relevant to contribute.
  • If you make an error in terms of the organisation of content within Community, for instance, as it pertains to any of the above, please delete or correct your error.

Be original

Only post what is yours, unless you have permission.

This Community was designed by humans, for humans

Please use the Community only in the spirit that it is intended. You may not use bots in any way on the platform. You are kindly reminded that we reserve the right to remove users from the platform at any time.
