About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer (Contract) to work alongside Rainbird.AI and internal stakeholders to design, develop, and produce high-quality online and face-to-face training materials. This role will focus on translating complex technical and conceptual content into engaging, curriculum-led, learner-centred training experiences that support adoption, capability uplift, and effective use of Rainbird-powered solutions.

The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across Product, Marketing, Customer Success, Sales, Partner, Implementation and Presales teams to create and curate scalable learning assets aligned with adult learning principles and organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Design & Development
  • Create engaging training materials for diverse audiences including internal teams across multiple departments, external partners, and clients
  • Design and develop blended learning programs including:
    • Self-paced eLearning modules
    • Instructor-led training (ILT) materials
    • Virtual instructor-led training (VILT) resources
    • Workshops, simulations, and practical exercises
    • Train-the-trainer toolkits and enablement materials
  • Learning assets will support enablement for a range of user personas including; Rainbird Internal Teams, Clients and Partners
  • Apply adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE, SAM) to ensure effective learning outcomes.
  • Translate complex technical, AI, or decision-automation concepts into clear, accessible learning content.
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests, quizzes or certifications, to measure the effectiveness of the content
  • Develop learner guides, facilitator guides, presentations, assessments, job aids, and reference materials.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with Rainbird.ai SMEs to understand system functionality, use cases, and value propositions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define learning objectives and success criteria.
  • Incorporate stakeholder feedback and iterate on learning materials to ensure relevance and accuracy.
Delivery & Enablement
  • Support or deliver face-to-face and virtual training sessions as required.
  • Prepare facilitators and trainers with clear delivery guidance and supporting materials.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and learning experience across delivery modes.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure learning materials meet quality, accessibility, and usability standards.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Recommend and implement improvements based on learner and stakeholder insights.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience as an Instructional Designer, Learning Designer, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience developing both digital and face-to-face training materials.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design frameworks.
  • Portfolio showcasing diverse learning content you’ve designed and delivered
  • Experience working with SMEs to capture and structure complex content.
  • Proficiency with common learning design and development tools (e.g. authoring tools, presentation software, LMS platforms).
  • Design skills including sourcing, editing and creating images
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts

Desired

  • Experience designing training for technical, software, AI, or data-driven products.
  • Familiarity with decision intelligence, expert systems, or knowledge-based systems.
  • Experience supporting product adoption, enablement, or change initiatives.
  • Ability to facilitate or co-facilitate workshops and training sessions.
  • Video production and editing skills
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive learning design.
