Why Rainbird exists

In regulated work, “probably” is not an answer

A suitability assessment, a sanctions review, a claims decision, a compliance judgement, an eligibility check or a tax treatment needs more than a confident response. It needs a clear rationale, a reliable outcome and an audit trail that stands up to scrutiny.

This is where existing approaches fall short. Rainbird was built for that gap.

Our story

Language got the attention. Judgement got us.

The great fork in AI sent nearly everyone toward language models. Rainbird went toward decisions: knowledge you can read, reasoning you can prove, judgement you can defend. Today the world is discovering that language models should never own the decision.

Founded in Norwich

James Duez and Ben Taylor start Rainbird on one belief: the most important decisions in an organisation should rest on knowledge that can be inspected, tested and governed.

2016

Graph meets inference

The engine matures into a symbolic reasoning platform that models how experts actually decide, not just what the data correlates with.

2017

The great fork

The groundbreaking paper “Attention Is All You Need” gives machines language, and the industry follows it. Rainbird stays on the other fork: judgement you can prove, decisions you can defend.

2020

Enterprise adoption

Professional services, insurance and banking deploy Rainbird against live operational decisions, with evidence trails built for audit.

2026

The two forks meet

Language models need a decision layer they can call. LLMs handle language; Rainbird handles judgement: the deterministic reasoning layer beneath agentic systems in regulated industries.

The Rainbird team

A unique blend of AI, transformation and growth expertise

What guides us

Values that support our mission and our customers

To build AI people can trust, we have to work in ways that earn trust, with customers, with partners and with each other.

Customer first

We measure ourselves by the outcomes our customers achieve. Issues surface early and nothing ships that we would not defend in front of a regulator.

Trust each other

Trust is why people here take ownership. Colleagues rely on each other to deliver high-quality work and to share what they learn.

Say it straight

We talk about our work honestly, with each other and with customers. Clear claims, verifiable evidence, no spin.

Move quickly, learn fast

Progress comes from trying ideas, learning from them and improving in the open, rather than waiting for perfect certainty.

Win together

We support one another and treat a colleague's success as the whole organisation moving forward.

AI the world can trust

Transform complex reasoning into deterministic AI at speed and scale

When high-stakes decisions need AI that can be justified, Rainbird is the trust layer for the AI era.
