About Rainbird
AI decision automation for work that must be right
Rainbird helps organisations automate high-stakes decisions with the consistency, transparency and control required in regulated environments. Our mission is to deliver AI the world can trust.
Why Rainbird exists
AI has changed what enterprises expect from technology. Teams can now analyse, summarise and generate information at speed. But in regulated industries, the hardest question remains unresolved: can AI make or support decisions that must be accurate, consistent and defensible?
For many operational decisions, the answer cannot be “probably”. A suitability assessment, sanctions review, claims decision, compliance judgement, healthcare eligibility check or tax treatment needs more than a confident response. It needs a clear rationale, a reliable outcome and an audit trail that can stand up to scrutiny.
This is where many AI and automation approaches fall short. Machine-learning models can find patterns, but they are difficult to explain. Rules-based systems can be deterministic, but they struggle with complexity and become hard to maintain. LLMs and agentic AI can process language impressively, but they remain probabilistic and can produce inconsistent or unsupported outputs.
Rainbird was built for this gap.
What Rainbird does
Rainbird turns institutional knowledge into AI models that can reason.
That knowledge may come from regulation, policy, procedures, operating manuals, case history or the judgement of experienced subject matter experts. Rainbird represents it as a computable knowledge graph, creating a structured model of how decisions are actually made inside an organisation.
Our symbolic inference engine then reasons over that knowledge to support, automate or guardrail complex operational decisions. Every outcome is based on the organisation’s own knowledge, not public training data or a black-box prediction.
The result is decision automation that is accurate, consistent, explainable and auditable.
How Rainbird is different
Rainbird does not ask enterprises to choose between the flexibility of modern AI and the control required for regulated work.
LLMs can play a valuable role in language tasks, such as extracting information from documents or helping users interact with systems in natural language. But Rainbird does not rely on LLMs to make the final judgement in high-stakes processes.
Instead, decisions are made by reasoning logically over structured knowledge. The same inputs produce the same outputs. The path to each conclusion can be inspected. The evidence behind every decision can be shown.
This makes Rainbird suitable for use cases where organisations need to scale expert decision-making without increasing regulatory, operational or reputational risk.

Our story
Rainbird Technologies was founded in 2013 by James Duez and Ben Taylor.
James brought decades of experience in enterprise transformation, compliance, decision science and technology businesses. Ben brought a background in artificial intelligence, computer science and symbolic reasoning. Together, they saw a problem that was being overlooked by the market.
Most AI investment was moving towards data-first approaches. These systems were powerful, but they were not built to represent expert judgement or explain complex decisions in a way that enterprises could trust.
James and Ben took a different path. They focused on knowledge representation, symbolic reasoning and transparent decision-making. Their belief was simple: the most important decisions in an organisation should be based on knowledge that can be inspected, tested and governed.
More than a decade later, that belief has become more relevant than ever.
Where Rainbird creates value
Rainbird is used in environments where decisions are complex, high-volume and exposed to regulatory or commercial risk.
These include financial services, insurance, healthcare, legal, tax, audit and professional services. Across these sectors, organisations face the same pressure: improve speed and efficiency, reduce manual workload, retain expert knowledge, improve decision quality and prove compliance.
Rainbird helps by turning knowledge-intensive processes into repeatable, auditable decision services. This allows organisations to scale expertise, reduce bottlenecks, improve customer outcomes and create new AI-supported services with trust built into the decisioning layer.
AI the world can trust
The future of enterprise AI will not be built on probability alone.
It will require systems that understand an organisation’s own knowledge, apply it consistently and explain how each outcome was reached.
That is what Rainbird was built to do.
We help enterprises automate the decisions that matter most, with the trust, control and auditability that regulated industries demand.

Transform complex reasoning into deterministic AI at speed and scale
In a world demanding AI outcomes that can be justified, Rainbird stands as the most advanced trust layer for the AI era. When high-stakes applications need AI, come to us.
