Blue Prism is integrating Rainbird’s intelligent decision automation platform with its robotic process automation (RPA) tools, to deliver end-to-end automation at scale.
Blue Prism is a publicly listed market-leader, known for its enterprise-grade digital workers (or task and process automation bots). Rainbird’s multi-award winning platform connects a layer of intelligent decision-making to these bots, so “thinking” tasks can now be automated in synchronicity with “doing” tasks.
Blue Prism’s bots can normalise and move records from one place to another, before Rainbird decides what needs to be done about those records. Or Rainbird can make decisions (based on its model of human knowledge) about the implications of data, then tell Blue Prism’s digital workers how to tag or where to move those data.
Rainbird adds a crucial layer of complex and high-value reasoning to the scalability of Blue Prism’s platform. Our organisations are in collaboration over a range of use cases—from fraud investigation to mortgage forbearance—and more opportunities are regularly emerging.

Intelligent fraud investigation: 85% automation, 60% reduced costs
Blue Prism and Rainbird have collaborated on an automated fraud solution, which replicates the end-to-end fraud investigation process within major organisations.
The fraud investigation solution can significantly reduce costs in year 1 by introducing unprecedented speed, accuracy and scalability. The solution is also fully auditable and explains why it comes to every conclusion. False positives—the bane of many AI and automated fraud systems—are also greatly mitigated.
“The powerful collaboration of Rainbird and Blue Prism, opens up new intelligent automation opportunities that neither standalone technology is able to fully enable, meaning great news for the clients of both organisations,” says Wayne Butterfield, Director of Cognitive Automation & Innovation at ISG. “Entire departments (such as fraud) will, through the decision-making capabilities of Rainbird and the actioning capability of Blue Prism, unlock significant efficiencies to be exploited worldwide.”
James Loft, Chief Operations Officer at Rainbird, says, “Blue Prism and Rainbird working together brings a new level of depth to our clients and makes decision automation available to those already on an exciting automation journey. Being able to make complex decisions across a business in a consistent and scalable way where there was previously manual review and ambiguity is a step change for business.”
Machine-human collaboration promises much for mankind—and is already taking on today’s greatest challenge
Following the advent of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Rainbird partnered with the NHS, which used our rapid deployment programme to build a suite of COVID-19 risk assessment tools.
The tools, which have been developed to address the staff resourcing challenges currently faced by the NHS, can be updated within minutes to reflect shifts in national guidance.
Blue Prism’s digital workers are also supporting the NHS in the automation of several managerial tasks and processes. Rainbird and Blue Prism are undergoing early explorations of how their technologies can combine to further help healthcare.
The early signs within the NHS have been overwhelmingly positive. It can only bode well for all of us that intelligent automation can be so impactful and reliable in the face of challenges as daunting as the coronavirus pandemic.
