Role Responsibilities
As a Solutions Engineer at Rainbird, you’ll serve as the technical bridge between our platform capabilities and our customer’s architectural and integration challenges. Your primary mission will be to rapidly translate customer technical requirements into tangible, working solutions that demonstrate Rainbird’s value proposition.
You’ll collaborate directly with customer stakeholders and other members of our Implementation Services team to understand complex business problems, often with incomplete information. You will develop solutions that integrate with the Rainbird low-code platform. This requires quickly grasping domain-specific knowledge across various industries, identifying, documenting and demonstrating how Rainbird’s decision automation capabilities can address critical pain points and how those capabilities will integrate into customer solutions.
A significant portion of your time will involve working directly with customer teams, to design and implement integration architectures that connect Rainbird to their existing technology ecosystems. You’ll develop custom data extraction layers that transform and normalise customer data to make it usable within our platform, ensuring that information flows seamlessly between systems while maintaining data integrity and security.
You’ll build connectors and middleware solutions that enable Rainbird to interact with various third-party systems, including CRMs, ERPs, task automation tools, and industry-specific applications. This requires understanding diverse APIs, data formats, and communication protocols to create robust integration pathways.
Working directly with customer technical teams, you’ll provide hands-on guidance for implementation approaches, helping them navigate integration challenges and optimise their use of the Rainbird platform. You’ll need to pivot quickly as requirements evolve, adapting solutions to meet emerging needs while maintaining technical quality.
You’ll develop and demonstrate proof-of-concept implementations and technical prototypes that clearly show how Rainbird can solve specific business challenges, often under tight timeframes. These demonstrations are crucial for helping customers visualise the potential value and securing project advancement.
Throughout the engagement lifecycle, you’ll create technical documentation that enables customers to understand integration approaches and maintain solutions long-term. You’ll also collaborate with our product team to identify common customer needs that could inform our platform roadmap.
Key Competencies
- Consultative. A solutions-oriented mindset with experience in gathering technical requirements, rapidly designing and implementing technical solutions within the confines of the implementation project’s scope. You’re comfortable operating with ambiguity and can effectively translate between technical capabilities and business requirements.
- Technical.
- Strong technical integration skills are essential, including comprehensive knowledge of API development patterns, RESTful services, webhook implementations, and data transformation techniques.
- Familiarity with data transformation, ETL processes, and middleware technologies.
- Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (Python, JavaScript/ Node.js, Go) is required, with the ability to write clean, maintainable code for integration components.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and an understanding of modern DevOps practices.
- A solid grasp of authentication and security protocols is crucial, including OAuth, JWT, API keys, and best practices for securing data in transit and at rest.
- Communication. Your communication skills must be exceptional, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should be comfortable leading technical discussions and presenting to customer teams.
- Implementation Services. Running or participating in proof of concepts (POCs), overseeing their conversion to production deployments, and resolving technical issues during implementation phases.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role is essential, with a demonstrated ability to manage customer expectations, respond to changing requirements, and maintain trusted advisor status throughout engagements.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Agentic Frameworks or task automation RPA platforms (e.g., CrewAi, LangGraph, UiPath, Appian, BluePrism) would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms or decision intelligence systems.
- Experience in designing intuitive and user-friendly UI/UX.
